Our Pastor

Rev. Patricia Freeman is committed to meeting the community's and its members' spiritual, physical, and emotional needs.  She believes in teaching the TRUTH of God's word as the foundation and basis of empowerment to overcome the issues that arise daily.

As the new Pastor of Walker Temple, coming from the last congregation at Johnson Chapel El Centro, she believes that she is not called to change anyone; rather she has been created to love everyone.

Pastor Patricia is committed to modeling the role that we have as God’s stewards in the world, and committed to promoting our relationship with God as the most important and valued relationship in our lives.

“I believe in loving all people without any regards of religious traditions, traditional affiliations, ethnicity, race, political affiliation, sexual identification, sexual orientation gender, or the Zip code they live in.”

“My mission is to teach, preach, and nurture everyone to seek the will of God and to surrender to be led by the Holy Spirit. I am a firm believer that everything is possible when we have faith.”

Pastor Patricia is committed to teaching biblical principles, spreading God’s liberating gospel, and creating programs within and outside the church walls.

“My vision for Walker Temple is a vision of growing in love, membership, and discipleship. I envision the Temple to be a place where the community comes together in unity and peace. I envision children and youth having a second home where they feel safe, valued, respected, and understood. I believe in nurturing young people so they can become what God destined them to be.”

Pastor Patricia is a firm believer of the appreciative inquiry approach where we look at strengths first and build upon these. Relationships with God and relationships with people are the foundation of being a Christian.

“I am determined to model and follow God’s command to love God and my neighbors in the spirit of “We are made in His image, and therefore are His Masterpiece.”

Pastor Patricia is married to Rev. John and she and her husband have six children.

“My pet peeve is that children are our future, no matter if they are biological or not. Let us keep our children in church and give them the foundation to carry them through their daily struggles.”

Pastor Patricia earned degrees from her homeland, Germany, in Education and Health. After immigrating to the United States, she earned a BS in Early Childhood Education, an MS in Instructional Technology, an MDIV in Theology, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration.

“God is not through with me yet and allowed me to share my skills, knowledge, and most of all, love and compassion with the Walker Temple Los Angeles congregation."

God proved His love on the cross. When Christ hung and bled, and died, it was God saying to the world, "I love you."

Our Vision

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
